ToneCheck — Effective April 4, 2026

1. Introduction

ToneCheck (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) is developed by Marc Hayes / HayesStack. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the ToneCheck iOS application.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: If you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials (including Apple Sign In or Google Sign In tokens).
  • Text you submit for analysis: When you use ToneCheck to analyze text, the text is sent to our server for processing. We store analysis results for Pro subscribers to enable the history feature. Free-tier anonymous usage is stored locally on your device only.
  • Purchase information: Subscription purchases are processed by Apple and RevenueCat. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not have access to your payment details.
  • Analytics data: We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics such as screen views, feature usage, and app performance. This data is not linked to your identity.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide tone analysis and AI rewrite features
  • To manage your account and subscription status
  • To maintain your analysis history (Pro subscribers)
  • To improve app performance and user experience

4. Third-Party Services

  • Supabase: Authentication, database, and serverless functions (hosted in US-East-1).
  • Anthropic (Claude API): Text is processed server-side by the Claude AI model for tone analysis. Text is not stored by Anthropic beyond the request lifecycle.
  • RevenueCat: Subscription management and receipt validation.
  • PostHog: Anonymous product analytics.

5. Data Retention

Analysis history for Pro subscribers is retained for 30 days. Anonymous check data is stored only on-device. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), Row Level Security on our database, and secure authentication flows. Your API keys and credentials are never stored on-device.

7. Children's Privacy

ToneCheck is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at the email below.
